The offer is available to individuals who at the beginning of the offer period did not hold an Alterna chequing account (either on their own or as a joint holder).

How do I qualify for the offer? Expand/Collapse

To qualify, a member must complete the following steps:
  1. Open a new chequing account on the Basic, Value or Unlimited banking package during the campaign period,

  2. Within the Offer Period, set up and complete within the chequing account:
    1. Eligible payroll or Government Direct Deposit*/**, AND
    2. At least one (1) eligible transaction in two (2) of the following categories: 
      1. Interac ® Debit Transaction (Point of Sale)**/***
      2. Bill payment via Online Banking or the Alterna mobile app**/***
      3. Receive Interac ® e-Transfer**/*** Send Interac ® e-Transfer**/***

* The Eligible Payroll or Government Direct Deposit must be credited at least once (1) within 30 days after the Offer Period and subsequent deposits must continue for three consecutive months.

Are there any minimum amounts or other requirements for qualifying transactions? Expand/Collapse

Yes, in order for a transaction to count, it must be a minimum of $50. In addition, recurring Payroll and Government Direct Deposits must be credited at least once within 30 days after the Offer Period, and subsequent deposits must continue for three consecutive months to qualify.

Can a member close their chequing account and open a new chequing account to qualify? Expand/Collapse

No. The offer is only open for individuals who at the beginning of the Offer Period did not hold an Alterna chequing account (either on their own or as a joint holder).

Are there any limits to the offer? Expand/Collapse

Yes, there is a limit of one offer per member (including joint accounts). For eligible members who are joint account holders, only one joint account holder may receive an offer.

When will I qualify to receive my cash reward payment? Expand/Collapse

Members will receive their cash reward 12 to 14 weeks after all conditions have been met. The cash reward will be deposited into the eligible chequing account.
