Ottawa, ON - (September 10, 2021) – From August 23 – August 30, 2021, Alterna Savings hosted their second Virtual Silent Auction. The event raised an incredible $55,000, with proceeds supporting Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Support Programs.

“The ongoing COVID-19 health crisis has added pressure on the children and their families who are already dealing with the impacts of cancer. At Alterna, we are honoured to continue to support these families through the incredible work of Candlelighters,” said Rob Paterson, Alterna President and CEO.

The Alterna Savings Virtual Silent Auction, which was hosted in lieu of their annual Golf Classic Charity Fundraiser, enables Alterna to support the Candlelighters’ E-Readers program. E-Readers provide a quick, easily transportable means to access resources related to the cancer diagnosis and a positive way to occupy themselves throughout treatments recovery, for both children with cancer and their parents.

They are an important member of our community who ensure we can continue to offer resources and meaningful care to those who need it – making a world of difference in the lives of these children with cancer and their families.” said Jocelyn Lamont, Executive Director of Candlelighters.

Alterna has supported Candlelighters since 2012 and with this year’s fundraising efforts, brings its donations to a combined total of over $675,000.
